Game Of Thrones Review Season 1 Episode 10-We have all seen the unpleasant ending of episode 9 of Game of thrones season 1 and left with disappointment (if you wish for the Starks to win this war of course).
Sansa has fell down unconscious and Arya has been taken away by Yoren who immediately cuts her hear with a knife, asking her “Do you want to live, boy?” Before his death, Ned looked at Yoren and gave him instructions with his gaze towards Arya who was standing on the Baelor’s statue. He wanted for Yoren to save the girl by taking her to Winterfell on his way to Castle black.
Bran Stark dreamt again of the three-eyed raven who now leads him to the castle’s crypts, where he meets his father. Bran tells this dream to Osha, the wildling girl who has been taken as a prisoner. She carries him to the crypt and there they meet Rickon Stark with his direwolf.
Rickon tells them that he had the same dream. When they return to the courtyard, Maester Luwin delivers them the news of Ned’s death. Catelyn and Robb have also received the news of Ned’s death. We can see them grieving and Robb threatens to kill them all. Catelyn tells him. “We have to get the girls back, and then we will kill them all.”
Joffrey’s evil character is at display in episode 10 of Game of thrones season 1 as he takes Sansa Stark to the castle’s ramparts and makes her look at her father’s head on a spear. We can see how Sansa’s fear changes to anger as Joffrey promises to deliver Robb’s head when she replies: “Or maybe he’ll give me yours.” Joffrey’s promise to Sansa that he will not hurt her has faded away and her love for him is gone now and she is consumed with anger towards him.
At the Starks’ war camp Robb’s bannermen declare him the King in the North. Catelyn goes to interrogate Jaime Lannister and he admits that it was him who threw Bran from the window. When she asks the reason of this attempt he replies “I hoped the fall would kill him”, and he doesn’t give away his secret, the one of the incest with his sister.
The information of Jaime’s capture reaches the Lannisters and now Tywin makes plans of Jaime’s rescue. He is well aware that no negotiations are possible because of his nephew’s action-killing Ned stark.
Tywin orders his son Tyrion to go to King’s Landing as the Hand of the king and also forbids him to take his whore, Shae with him. From the previous episode we’ve learned about Tyrion’s past with whores and how he became married to one due to a cruel joke of his brother Jaime.
In episode 10 of game of thrones season 1 we see that he has no intention of letting Shae go, and so he makes plans to take her to King’s Landing as a servant instead a whore.
Sam tries to convince Jon Snow to stay at Castle Black, but prepared to leave he rushes out on his horse. Very soon he is surrounded by his brothers from the Watch, as they are telling the oath he take, never to desert and be faithful man to the watch.
The next morning, the Lord Commander tells Jon that he knows about his night trip and he doesn’t want to punish him, but he asks Jon to come with his direfolw north of the wall in search of Benjen and in search of the truth.
The Lord Commander tells Jon to abandon the idea of helping his family and instead he can help the Watch by fighting the wildlings as he says. “When dead men and worse come hunting for us in the night do you think it matters who sits on the Iron Throne?”
At the tent, Daenerys Targaryen wakes to find that her child has been born dead and deformed. The witch traded the baby’s life for that of Khal Drogo. And now the khal lives but he is mute, unable to move and unable to rule so the khalasar deserted them.
The witch confesses that she has tricked Daenerys as a revenge for her village “You will see exactly what life is worth when all the rest is gone,” she says. Daenerys decides to kill Drogo herself as she puts a pillow over his face.
Daenerys stands in front of a pyre with Drogo’s corpse on the top and the dragon eggs are being placed around his dead body. She torches the pyre and enters the flames as the audience watches her in wonder.
The next morning, when only ashes are left of the pyre, we see Daenerys, alive with three small dragons. As everyone stares at them in wonder, we hear the shriek of the dragons, thus making the perfect end of Game of thrones season 1.
