Game of thrones review season 3 episode 5- Exciting beginning of the episode with the trial by combat. The Hound prepares to fight with the priest of the Lord of Light. The priest tells his prayers and then they both fight bravely but in the end the Hound defeats the priest and so he dies.
One of the other men rushes to the priest and tells prayers so that the Lord of Light brings him back from the dead. And what do you think happens next? Yes, he rises from the dead and everybody, especially Arya looks at the man with amazement.
After this trial by combat the men release the Hound because the Lord of Light proves him innocent. Arya is angry with this decision, the Hound was on her kill list, together with Joffrey, Cersei, Illyn Payne, Ser Meryn Trant. Now that he’s free she thinks she has no chance of killing him.
Now let’s talk about this resurrection, would you think is possible someone who is already dead to come back from the dead even though he hasn’t got a head? Let’s say Ned stark, for example. Could he be brought back to life? It’s the same question that Arya asks the priest. Poor girl, she wants her daddy back so much.
Parents will do everything for their children. They will pay the highest price for their children safety, or they will kill and die to avenge them. Ser Jaime arrives at Harrenhal where he’s welcomed by Lord Bolton. We sense from their first encounter that Tywin already made a deal with Bolton and he will deliver Jaime to Tywin.
His arm has been treated by the Maester and after that he takes a bath. Jaime enters the same bath in which Brienne is already in. She tries to chase him off but he simply enters it. In their conversation some insults and apologies are exchanged. The most important story of all is the story of Jaime becoming the Kingslayer.
Brienne listens to the story carefully- The Mad King wanted to burn everybody in the Capitol and he gave an order to Jaime to kill his own father Tywin Lannister, when he arrived in King’s Landing to defeat the king. In that exact moment, Jaime decided to kill The Mad King and save the whole kingdom.
In Riverrun, Karstark avenges the death of his son by killing the two young Lannister boys who were Robb’s prisoners. Robb finds out about this treason and wishes to punish Karstark and sentence him to die. His advisors tell Robb to reconsider this decision, to show mercy in order to keep the Karstark family in the army.
Robb is aware that he’s losing the trust of his men and he makes a decision to go to Walder Frey and ask for more. Well done Robb, but aren’t you forgetting something? Don’t you remember the promise you gave to Walder Frey? You think he will forget about the broken promise? Well, good luck Robb, that’s all I have to say to you.
For the first time in Game of thrones we see Stannis’ daughter. After talking with his wife, Stannis wishes to speak with his daughter Shireen. One strange scene is their talk, his wife complains for not being able to give him a son while she looks at three jars with dead baby boys, naming them as she looks at them with sorrow.
Stannis visits Shireen and we see her face deformity. She once had a disease of the stone men, she was turning into one of them, but somehow they managed to cure her. Still, there are visible consequences on her face and she looks like a monster.
Shireen was close with Ser Davos so she asks about him. Stannis tells her that Davos is a traitor and he lies in the dungeons. Later she visits Davos and they make a deal with the princess to teach Davos to read. She will secretly come to visit, teach him letters and give him books for reading.
Back in King’s Landing, Baelish again asks Sansa to leave with him, telling her some information about their travel. Sansa is now deeply interested in marrying Ser Loras and thinks that this will be her way out, so she tells Baelish that she will stay and take her chances.
Tywin meets his children and they make plans how to stop the plan of the Tyrells. They cannot let Sansa end up in Tyrell hands, that’s why Sansa will marry Tyrion. He will have control over the North and provide Sansa with children.
Tyrion confronts his father decision while Cersei mocks him. But then Tywin turns to Cersei and tells her that she will marry Ser Loras and so they will be bound even more with the family that is helping them in time of need. Then Cersei argues about this decision, but Tywins words are final. The decisions have been made. Period.
