Game of thrones review season 3 episode 2- Strange dreams have been torturing Bran Stark for too long now. He wakes up from another dream where he was having archery lessons with his brothers and he also saw the Three-eyed raven.
What is even more exciting for Bran, he met a strange boy who told Bran that the raven is Bran. Bran tries to explain the dream to Osha but she doesn’t want to go into further details and changes the subject.
Have you noticed how many times Osha has tried to change the topic when Bran tells her about his dreams, looking for their meaning? Don’t you think that Osha knows more about these dreams than she tells Bran she knows?
Later on, Bran wakes from another dream and meets the boy from his dreams in flesh. He presents himself as a friend, Jojen Reed and he’s been looking for Bran together with his sister Meera Reed.
Jojen explains to Bran about his dreams, about warging and about the Three-eyed raven. It’s about time guys, I mean really. For two seasons of Game of thrones we’ve been wondering what the f***k is the big deal with this raven.
OK, so the Three-eyed raven gives sight into the past, the future or elsewhere in the present. Bran learns that Jojen has the same powers, he can warg as Bran does and later they talk about their fathers, who were friends and about some wars they fought together, something about who saved whose life and stuff like that.
Robb Stark has to deliver the bad news to his mother. Catelyn learns about the death of her father and that Winterfell has been burned to the ground. Robb tries to cheer his mother a bit, Rickon and Bran have not been found so there must be hope. But Catelyn is not so optimistic, learning that there have not been any demands from Theon Greyjoy who is now also missing.
We see Theon tied on a X-shaped cross somewhere in a dungeon and he’s being tortured. He tells the truth about Winterfell, he took it so that his father would be proud of him. His torturers don’t believe him so they continue torturing Theon.
After that he gives another reason, and you’d say this is the truth because he admits how much he hates the Starks for taking him away from home and holding him captive. He really wanted to get back at them and so he did what he did to make them suffer.
After this confession he tells he’ll sing like a bird if they don’t harm him anymore. The captors leave and one boy who’s mopping the floor tells Theon that his sister Yara sent him and makes promise to Theon that he’ll save him that evening.
From previous season 2 of Game of thrones we saw the secret wedding of Robb and Talisa and we knew it would be a problem. Well it already is a problem. Lord Karstark tells Robb that he has no longer faith in him and that they lost the war because they got married.
Oh, Lord Karstark, wait and you’ll see, just wait and you will see even greater consequences of this marriage, not for too long now.
Talking about consequences, Catelin tells Talisa, while she’s crafting a prayer wheel for her children, that she has crafted them before. The first time she crafted was for Jon Snow when he was sick as an infant, after she wished for his death.
She made promise to love him like her own if he lived and prayed for his health. But, she couldn’t keep her promise and she thinks it’s the reason of the bad faith that has come to her family. Well, Catlyn, everything has a price.
Beyond the wall, Jon also learns about warging when he sees a man who enters in an eagle’s mind. Jon also leans that the man saw dead people at the Fist of the First Men and fears for his brothers who were there.
Mance tells Jon how he was able to join the clans, he told them that they would all die if they didn’t unite against the White Walkers. We already know how many of them are out there, Sam saw them and he can’t get himself together.
Rast tells Sam that he should give up and die because he’s holding everybody back. Sam is prepared to give up but Lord Commander orders Rast to take care of Sam and makes sure that Sam arrives back at Castle Black. We feel the hatred that Rast has towards Sam and it’s even bigger now.
Queen Cersei sees how her son tries on new suits and she tries to manipulate him about Margaery. Joffrey doesn’t take the bait, even though she tries hardly to explain to him how Margaery is the one who manipulates with Joffrey.
Sansa has been escorted by Loras to meet with his grandmother, Lady Olenna Tyrell in the garden of the castle. Sansa meets with her and together with Margaery they try to manipulate with Sansa so that she can tell the truth about Joffrey.
At first Sansa is afraid and speaks highly of the King, but she is very easy to manipulate so she quickly starts singing like a bird and reveals that he’s a true monster. Unsatisfied with the information, Lady Olenna tells that it’s a pity to hear so, but that the wedding will continue.
Later, Margaeery pays visit to Joffrey after he asked for it, he shows her his new crossbow before going on a hunting trip. Margaery takes advantage of the situation and manipulates with him. She’s showing interest in his crossbow and they become more physically close and touch each other while holding the crossbow together. Ah, women, they know how to manipulate with men.
Later in the night, Shae enters Tyrion’s bedroom to make love with him. Tyrion is surprised but also afraid after his father hanging threat. She tells Tyrion about the warning he received from Ros about Littlefinger and Sansa.
Walking across the forests of Riverland, Gendry learns how they escaped and questions Arya about her choices for Jaqen’s kills. Obviously she could have ended the war, but instead she chose other deaths so they can escape.
Going freely in the woods, they are intercepted by a group of men who call themselves the Brotherhood without Banners. The group decides to capture them only so that they can hear the story of the escape of Harrenhal.
Arya, Hot Pie and Gendry are fed by the Brotherhood in the Inn at the Crossroads. Arya explains how they escaped, telling she killed the guards. The Brotherhood laughs and at the moment they set Arya, Hot Pie and Gendry free, the Hound enters.
He’s been captured by the Brotherhood and brought in the Inn. Arya tries to hide her face and to leave the Inn, but the Hound spots her and exposes her to the Brotherhod as a valuable hostage. And guess what will happen?
Of course, I thought the same. She will be taken as a hostage now by the Brotherhood. Now they know her identity and she can mean true fortune when delivered to the right people.
Brienne and Jaime Lannister travel towards King’s Landing. Jaime tries to provoke her and teases her about her feelings he discovers she had for Renly Baratheon. When they are crossing a bridge, Jaime is able to take on of Brienne’s swords and they fight on the bridge. The fight is stopped by Bolton’s men and they recapture Jaime and even take Brienne as a hostage now.
