Game of thrones review season 4 episode 10- We saw the outcome of the fight between the wildlings and the men of The Watch. Jon decided to meet with Mance and talk peace terms. Actually, Jon wishes to get close to Mance so that he can kill him. Mance is aware of Jon’s intention to kill him and so he dares Jon to be faster than his men outside.
Suddenly, an army appears out of nowhere and defeats some wildlings. Most of the wildlings flee but Mance surrenders. We see it’s Stannis’ army who arrived up North. Now wait, how and why on earth he travelled so fast and so far North? What business has he got here?
However, Mance is captured and Jon introduces himself to Stannis. Stannis asks Jon for opinion about Mance, what he is supposed to do with him. Jon wishes to return Mance the favor and save his life. Stannis orders his men to take Mance as a prisoner for questioning. Jon advises Stannis to burn the dead bodies.
When Jon returns at Castle Black he burns the bodies of their dead friends. Then he visits Tormund who asks Jon to take Ygritte beyond the wall and burn her body there. Jon takes Ygritte body up North, builds a pyre and burns her body with sorrow in his eyes. He truly loved her and now she’s gone.
In the trial by combat, Ser Gregor Clegane, the Mountain, was deadly wounded by prince Oberyn. The Mountain’s wounds are now being treated by maester Qyburn while Cersei and maester Pycelle observe the treatment. Maester Pycelle tries to reason Cersei that this new Maester’s methods are not natural and unusual but Cersei is determined for the Mountain to be saved no matter what.
After that, Cersei speaks with her father Tywin who insists on her marrying Ser Loras Tyrell. Cersei tells Tywin that her final answer is no and threatens Tywin to reveal the truth about her and Jaime. Tywin doesn’t wish to believe the rumors and now he doesn’t wish do believe the truth that is coming out of his daughter’s mouth.
Cersei goes to Jaime and tells him what she did. She feels relieved now since she told their father the truth and she seduces Jaime to make love with her. Confused yet glad about what Cersei did, Jaime accepts her seduction and they make love.
Daenerys hears a man who complains about her dragons. The man shows Daenerys a bag with child’s bones, delivering the story how she died- Drogon came from the sky and burned the little girl nearly to ashes.
Angry with her dragons and very sad about the girl, Daenerys decides that she must lock the dragons since she has lost control over them. They become a serious threat for everyone and so Daenerys takes the two little dragons in a dungeon and locks them there.
As she leaves them they cry for her like a baby cries for its mother. She leaves them there with sorrow and tears in her eyes. Still, they didn’t manage to find Drogon so he is still out there.
North of the Wall, Bran, Jojen, Meera and Hodor arrive at the tree where they will meet the Three-eyed raven. Just before they enter the cave beneath the tree, a group of skeletons rise from the snow and attack them. Bran wargs into Hodor so that he can save Jojen and Meera who are fighting the skeletons.
The skeletons attack Bran while he wargs but he is saved by the direwolf. While Meera fights Jojen lies on the snow and is deadly wounded by a skeleton. More and more skeletons are rising from the snow and they have no chance to save themselves now, even with the help of Hodor and Summer.
Suddenly, fire balls fall from the three and we see a little childlike creature that save them and tells them to enter the tree. Meera delivers quick death to Jojen and runs toward the tree while Hodor carries Brann in his arms. The skeletons break into pieces when they try to enter the tree- the power that keeps them going doesn’t function inside the tree.
Finally, Bran meets the Three-eyed raven, a man in the tree who tells Brann he has been waiting for him for too long. The man will teach Bran some important things from the past, present and the future and finally Bran will become the Three-eyed raven.
On the walk to the Erie, Brienne meets Arya without knowing who she is. Arya is surprised to see a lady knight and the start a little conversation. Meanwhile the Hound is defecating behind the rocks so Brienne and Pod cannot see him.
Once the Hound appears Podrick immediately recognizes him and informs Brienne who he is. Brienne realizes that the girl is Arya Stark and wishes to take her under protection so that she can bring her to safety.
The Hound laughs, there is no place safe for Arya now, everybody of her family is dead and she has no place to go. The Hound says that he is protecting Arya and taking care of her, but Brienne won’t listen so they start a fight.
This had been one of the greatest duels in Game of thrones since the Hound is known as one of the best fighters in all of the seven kingdoms. Still, Brienne is also a very strong woman and an excellent fighter and she manages to defeat the Hound.
While they were fighting, Arya got away from their sight and now Brienne and Pod are looking for her. But Arya goes to the Hound and sees how badly wounded he is. He practically begs Arya to end his sufferings. Arya looks at the Hound and decides not to kill him, even though he was on her list. Arya walks away and leaves the Hound to suffer until he dies.
Jaime enters into Tyrion’s dungeon and releases him. Excited that he will live another day, Tyrion rushes through the halls and asks Jaime who is helping him about the escape. Tyrion is surprised to learn that Ser Varys is helping because he testified against him on the trial, at least Tyrion felt that way.
Jaime leads Tyrion through the passages and gives him further instruction which way to go and so they say goodbye. But Tyrion changes his direction and enters Tywin’s chamber. He is very surprised and hearth broken when he sees Shae in Tywin’s bed. Shae tries to attack Tyrion but he strangles her to death with sorrow in his eyes.
Even more furious and mad at his father, Tyrion takes a crossbow and searches for Tywin. Tyrion finds his father in the loo where he is sitting on a toilet seat. Tywin tries to reason with Tyrion, telling his son that he never had the intention to execute him and that they will work things out once he gets out of the toilet.
It’s too late now, Tyrion shoots his father twice and leaves the place. He goes to the meeting spot where Varys waits. Tyrion remains mute when Varys asks him what took him so long to meet with Varys. As soon as Varys places Tyrion in a crate on a ship that is leaving for Penthos, the city’s bells ring. Varys realizes that Tyrion has done something big so he decides to enter the ship as well and save himself too.
In the last scene we see Arya approaching a captain of a ship. She asks the captain where the ship is going and the captain tells her the ship will travel to Braavos. Arya gives the man the coin that Jaqen gave her and speaks the words “Valar Morgulis”. The captain takes Arya on the ship and so they set sail.
