Game of thrones review season 5 episode 2 – Arya arrives at the gates of Bravos and as the ship passes beneath the Titan she is amazed. The captain of the ship takes her to a tall lonely building with double gates, one black one white. She asks for Jaqen H’gar showing the coin he gave her in season 2 of Game of thrones, but a strange man turns her down.
Left at the gates of the House of Black and White, Arya repeats her kill list over and over again. She then throws the coin in the water and leaves for the city. There a band of men try to rob her only to run away at the sight of the strange man from The House of Black and White.
Arya follows him when the man gives the coin back and changes his face to reveals he is Jaqen. He tells her he has no name and that she must do the same.
Brienne and Podrick stop at an Inn where they spot Sansa with Litlefinger. Poddrick readies the horses while Brienne tries to convince Sansa to come with her explaining her vow to her mother that she will keep her children safe. She is turned down and forced to fight her way out and run. Brienne then decides to follow Sansa believing that she is not safe with Littlefinger.
Cersei receives a box from Dorne with a red viper holding Myrcella’s necklace in the jaws. She calls for Jaime and he decides to go to Dorne to save their daughter. Jaime convinces Bronn to come along, promising him a better wife and Castle than the one he is to have when they return.
In Dorne, Ellaria Sand, Oberyn’s unmarried lover, pushes Doran Martell to avenge his brother Oberyn and go to war with the Lannisters. She tries to convince him to send Myrcella piece by piece to Cersei but Doran refuses.
“A law is a Law”
Daario’s Second Sons discover the whereabouts of a Son of thee Harpy, and with Grey Worm they capture and question him. At the council, Daenerys and her advisors decide the fate of the man. While Bariston asks for a fair trial, the former slave, Mossador demands that the man is killed.
The Queen has the last word and decides to give the Son of the Harpy a fair trial. On the other hand, Mossandor disobeys and kills him, so Daenerys is forced to execute him publicly and therefore she is confronted with the anger of both the former masters and slaves. When she asks to be left alone, Daenerys finds Drogon on top of her balcony but the dragon flies away.
On their way to Volantis, Varys and Tyrion remind themselves of the days they served, and the way they enjoyed the power they had. Tyrion liked the power he had as Hand of the King, maybe because his father gave him that power and it’s the only time he accepted him as his son.
Cersei has put a bounty on Tyrion’s head, and is disappointed as two men bring her the head of another dwarf with a scar on his face. She then tries to point herself as the Queen and acts in the name of her son Tommen.
Shireen Baratheon, Stannis’ daughter, teaches Gilly to read and explains about her gray-scale disease. Gilly then tells her about her sisters who also had the gray-scale and they acted like animals.
Jon faces Stannis, who is not pleased with Jon showing mercy to Mance in the previous episode of Game of Thrones. Stannis gives Jon a proposition. If Jon helps Stannis win the North, he will declare him Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell. In order to keep his oath to the Brothers of The night’s Watch, Jon is forced to make a very hard decision and to refuse.
The 998th election for Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch is held. Alliser Thorne and Denys Malliser are the first two candidates, but Sam at the last moment speaks for Jon and with the last decisive vote from Aemon, Jon Snow is elected The New Commander of The Nights Watch.
