Game of thrones review season 5 episode 7-At Castle Black, Lord commander Jon Snow and Tormund are preparing to head out for Hardhome to save the wildlings that are there. Sam gives Jon a bag of dragonglass daggers like the one he used to kill the White Walker in one of the previous seasons of Game of thrones, with the hope he doesn’t need to use them.
Maester Aemon is dying. Gilly and Sam are with him in his last hours. He tells Gilly to take her baby south before it’s too late. Later in the night he dies. Two of the men of the Night’s Watch find Gilly alone and attack her. Sam walks in and tries to save her but is badly beaten up when Ghost finally scares the two men away. When Gilly tends to his wounds they make love.
At Winterfell, Sansa is locked in her chambers. When Theon brings her food, she gives him a candle and begs him to go to the top of the broken tower and light it, as a signal for help. Theon takes the candle but betrays Sansa and tells all of this to Ramsay.
Ramsay calls Sansa to join him outside and while they walk and talk, he shows Sansa the butchered body of an old woman, the same woman who tried to help Sansa by delivering the message from Brienne about the candle in the broken tower.
Davos informs Stannis of the deaths and desertions that the terrible weather has caused, and advises him to return to Castle Black. Stannis is too proud to back out of a battle once again and says they have to move forward in victory or defeat. Melisandre asks for a sacrifice to the Lord of Light, but it has to be of King’s blood, thinking of his daughter, getting Stannis really mad.
While Daenerys and Daario are in bed, Daario advises her not to marry Hizdahr, but to marry him and to gather all of the masters and slaughter them.
Jorah and Tyrion are sold as slaves and are brought to one of the fighting pits where Daenerys happens to be watching. Jorah sees his chance, breaks out of the holding area and attacks the other fighters winning in the end. When Jorah takes off the helmet, Daenerys sends him away furiously but Jorah begs her telling her that he has a gift. In that moment Tyrion appears saying that he is the gift Jorah brought to Daenerys.
In Dorne, Jamie tries to convince Myrcella to return to King’s Landing, but with no luck. His companion Bronn is in the dungeon across the one where the Sand Snakes are held. He almost dies from a poisoned dagger of one of the Sand Snakes from the fight mentioned in the previous episode of Game of thrones season 5, but in the last moment she gives him the antidote and saves his life.
Olenna Tyrell tries to buy the freedom of her grandchildren Loras and Margaery, but The High Sparrow refuses her and lets her know that he will not be intimidated. Later, Olenna meets with lord Baelish in his brothel where she reminds him that they killed the king and are bound in alliance. He gives her a gift, a young man. No, no, it’s not what you mean.
Seeing Tommen broken, Cersei promises him that she will speak to the High Sparrow about releasing his beloved Margaery. She first goes to visit Margaery and pretending to care, she offers her venison meat, but Margaery tells her that she knows she is behind all of this.
Cersei visits the High Sparrow, asking him about the trial. The smile on her face is turning bitter when he asks about her sins, and telling her that a young man has confessed all of his sins and he had a lot to say about her. Then Lancel Lannister enters bearing the seal of the seven on his forehead.
Cersei is taken and locked in the cells. Lady Olenna used the gift she received from Lord Baelish and now Cersei is trapped in her own game.
