Game of thrones review season 6 episode 10- This is it, the great finale of Game of thrones season 6 is here. It begins with the preparation for the trial in King’s Landing. Cersei and Ser Loras are about to meet with seven Septons who will decide their fate. Loras is brought in front of the Septons in the Sept of Baelor and he confesses his crimes.
Ser Loras seeks punishment and justice for his crimes, he devotes himself to the faith, denouncing his name, legacy and the right to marry and father children. Meanwhile, Cersei and Tommen are getting ready for the trial, but the Mountain enters Tommen’s chambers and he doesn’t allow the king to exit.
What is the reason for this? Everybody waits for them in the Sept of Baelor and Margaery is getting suspicious about Cersei’s and Tommens absence. The High Septon sends some of his sparrows to go to the Red Keep and bring Cersei to her trial.
There is a great quantity of wild fire under the Sept of Baelor. Cersei found out about this and she made the perfect plan how to deal with her enemies. That’s why The Mountain didn’t let Tommen go to the Sept. Margaery is very certain now that something is not right since the king and his mother are not here.
Lancel Lannister’s attention is drawn to a little bird that runs under the Sept of Baelor. Lancel follows the boy who runs deeper and deeper under the Sept. Maester Pyrcel’s is also being deceived from one of these little birds of Qubyrn. He is being misled to Qubryn’s cnambers where several other children surround him and kill him in cold blood.
Lancel manages to find the torch of the boy he was following but there is no sight of the boy. Suddenly he is stabbed by the boy and Lancel falls down on the ground. While he tries to stand up, Lancel notices strange light and a candle in a middle of some green substance. Hell yeah, the rumors were true!
She tries to convince the High Septon that they should all leave, but it’s too late now. Lancel was trying to get closer to the candle so that he can stop the explosion and he failed. The explosion of the wild fire turned the Sept of Baelor and everybody who were in there into ashes.
Cersei sees the explosion with a smile on her face. Feeling relieved, Cersei goes in a dungeon where she has Septa Unella as her prisoner. Cersei confesses her crimes from the beginning of Game of thrones series- she confesses sleeping with her brother, killing her husband, the origin of her children and the murder of the Septons and everybody else who were in the Sept of Baelor.
Then she leaves her prisoner to be a toy for her guard dog, The Mountain. King Tommen also saw what happened with the Sept of Baelor. Shortly after watching the explosion, Tommen jumps off the window of the Red Keep. Poor boy, he couldn’t deal with the pain of losing Margaery.
At Frey’s castle, the Lannisters and the Freys are celebrating their victory and the retaking of the castle Rivverun. Walder Frey holds a speech and later he talks to Jaime. Walder speaks proudly of his success, how he managed to defeat the Tully and the Stark families. However, Jaime points out that every time the Freys need the help of the Lannisters so that Frey’s are not such good alliance to the Lannisters as they think they are.
Cersei sees Tommens body and gives order to Qubryn to burn the body and burry the ashes where the Sept of Baelor once was. The kings remaining should be with his family.
Sam, Gilly and the baby arrive in the Citadel where Sam has to learn and become a Maester. While waiting for the official approval Sam is allowed to enter the biggest library in the world. Sam is amazed by the size of it when he enters the library.
In his home in Winterfell, Jon reminds himself of the past, telling to Melisandre how he spent his days there. The conversation s interrupted by Ser Davos who enters the room and angrily gives to Melisandre the trinket he found in the battlefield. Ser Davos orders her to confess in front of Jon what she did with princess Shereen.
Jon witnesses Ser Davos’ confrontation with Melisandre and her confession of her crimes. Jon gets really angry and banishes Melisandre from Winterfell. Later, Jon speaks with Sansa about the trust issues they have. He tells Sansa that they need to stay together, to trust each other if they wish to survive.
Sansa tells Jon that a white raven came from the Citadel that day. It’s confirmed then, WINTER IS HERE PEOPLE! We have been hearing that winter is coming, and after 6 whole seasons of Game of thrones winter is finally here!
However, in Dorne is still shining and warm. We see Lady Olenna talking to the current ruler of Dorne, Oberyn’s unwed lover, who offers Lady Olenna vengeance. Lord Varys appears and speaks of fire and blood. Now we finally see what Varys’ mission was. He went to Dorne as a missioner, to gather as many allies for Daenerys as he can. Will Lady Olenna accept this offer?
In the next scene we see Daenerys talking to Daario. She instructs him to stay in Mereen with the Second sons and rule while she goes on her trip to Westeros. After the conversation with Daario, Daenerys talk with Tyrion about her decision and she names Tyrion Hand of the Queen.
Do you remember the story about the Rat cook? Well, Walder Frey receives a pie made of his sons as a punishment for what he did at the Red Wedding. Arya reveals her face and presents herself to Walder before she cuts his throat. Way to go Arya. The list is getting shorter, only few names are left.
Lord Baelish finally reveals his desires to Sansa- he wishes to sit on the Throne with her by his side. He gives Sansa a marriage proposal and tries to make her see that she is the true heir of winterfell and not her bastard brother Jon.
North of the Wall, Benjen leaves Bran and Meera somewhere safe, near a tree where Bran has his last vision for this season. Bran wargs into the past and finally sees what’t in the tower. Ned Stark meets his sister Lyanna on her dying bed. She begs Ned to promise her something, and we see a little baby boy in Ned’s hands. OMG, it’s Jon Snow!!! He is Lyanna’s child, a Targaryen.
While we are discussing Jon’s origin, he is discussing the future of the North with his banermen. Jon warns his people that the true war is yet to come and they have to be prepared. Lyanna Mormont speaks highly of Jon and acknowledges him as the King of the North. The other lords join this cheering, calling Jon the King of the North.
Althoug she smiles, Sansa and Baelish cross their looks and we can fell the jealousy in their eyes. Maybe she will accept his offer after all.
Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Cersei is being coronate as the Queen, the protector of the Realm. Jaime returns to King’s Landing the same moment of the coronation. Cersei and Jaime exchange looks but it doesn’t seem that Jaime is very happy about this.
And finally, we see the biggest army in the whole world and Daenerys at the head of the army. It’s happening, they have sailed, whole fleet is sailing towards Westeros. Oh, yes, let’s not forget, she has three fully grown dragons by her side. Watch out Westeros! Daenerys is coming!!
