Game of thrones review season 6 episode 7- The brand new episode of Game of thrones begins with a character long gone, a character that we thought is dead by now. Yes people, The Hound is alive and he is helping some people build a temple!
Ok, now how did this happen? He was defeated by Brienne in the fight and Arya left him die in the hill. He had serious injuries and it was impossible for him to stay alive. But, the story continues with his return in Game of thrones and the following conversations with him and the leader of the group.
The leader is actually a Septon and the people are his followers, people of faith. The Septon found the Hound and saved him. The Hound became a part of the group and he lives with them since then. Still, the Hound is not sure why he survived, nor do we. There must be some bigger plan for his role in Game of thrones.
It’s been more than one season now of Game of thrones since the High Sparrow is in command in King’s Landing. Margaery is released from prison but she is still praying and following the religion. The High Septon talks with her about her improvement but also he warns her about Lady Olenna.
Margaery’s grandmother is a remarkable woman but she has many sins for which she must repent. Margaery talks with Lady Olenna but she cannot give her true warning since she is followed by Septa Unella all the time. Instead, Margaery gives her grandmother a piece of paper with their sigil- a rose and tells her to go home in Highgarden.
Being a clever woman, Laddy Olenna recognizes the danger and immediately packs her bags. Cersei approaches Laddy Olenna and in the conversation they have, Cersei begs Lady Olenna to help her with the High Septon. But Lady Olenna reminds Cersei that it was her fault for this situation, Cersei gave the High Septon power to mess with their lives and so she refuses to be more involved in this circus.
Lady Olenna suggests Cersei to leave King’s Landing while she can, since she cannot defeat all of her enemies. However, Cersei is resolute not to abandon the king and to fight against the High Septon so she chooses to stay and fight her enemies.
Jaime left King’s Landing under the King’s order to help the Freys retake Riverrun. While the Freys try to negotiate with Blackfish, Jaime and his army approach their siege and he immediately takes control over the siege of the castle. Jaime orders that Lord is released from chains, and he should receive proper clothes, bath and food. Later, Jaime meets with Blackfish on the gates on the castle.
Jaime tries to convince Blaskfish to yield the castle so that innocent lives will be saved. Still, Blackfish refuses to surrender and goes back in the castle, informing Jaime that they will survive this siege for two whole years. It’s important to mention that the castle is surrounded by water and it’s very hard to attack it. Jaime has to think of another way to win the castle back.
Jon Snow and his sister Sansa Stark have decided in previous episodes in Game of thrones that they will fight against Ramsay Bolton. Now they are on a mission to gather as many men as they can and create an army that will fight the false warden of the North. Thormund and Ser Davos follow them and they try to help with the army.
Thormund convinces his people, the wildlings, that they should follow Jon and help him in his mission. Ser Davos is also a very convincing man, he helped Stannis to get a loan from the Bank of Braavos in previous seasons of Game of thrones. In episode 7 of Game of thrones season 6 Ser Davos helps Jon and Sansa to get the support of house Mormont.
The little Lady Lyanna is a very hard convincing young Lady and Jon and Sansa were unable to convince her for the support. Ser Davos used his techniques to assure Lyanna that her help is of great importance since the true war is yet to come. The fight between the living and the dead has already begun and the North needs to unite under Jon’s command if the people want to win that war.
The house Mormont swears its allegiance and sends 62 warriors to help Jon fight against Ramsey Bolton. Unfortunately, some of the houses of the North refuse to help Jon, since his brother Robb made a terrible mistake. House Glover refuses to answer Jon’s call. A lot of people died from this house because they followed Robb in his fight and they will fight no more.
Jon has gathered an army but it’s not enough to fight against Bolton. Sansa tells Jon that they need more men for the battle but Jon won’t listen. So, she writes a secret letter in the war camp. From previous episodes of Game of thrones we know that Baelish informed Sansa about Blackfish and that he commands in Riverrun, so maybe she writes to him, asking for help.
Or maybe she writes to Littlefinger himself, asking help from the Lord of the Vale? We will see.
While Jon and Sansa gather an army to fight Bolton, Arya gathers her things so that she can leave Braavos. We all know from previous episodes in Game of thrones how she wasn’t able to take away innocent life and now she flees from the faceless men. Arya bought herself a passage to Westeros but the girl found her and stabbed Arya in the belly.
Arya fell off the bridge in the water, probably dead. But wait, she cannot die, not like this! Breathe Arya, breathe! Oh yes, she comes out of the water but she is badly hurt! Arya walks in the streets of Braavos, pressing the wound on her belly and looking for shelter. Will she survive this? She is strong young warrior, she must survive!
But being strong isn’t the only thing for survival, it’s important to be wise and to have little luck as well. The Hound had also had luck to be found by this Septon who saved him. Now he lives with and helps this religious people. While the Septon gives his people a speech, a group of three men approach the people, asking for food and steel.
The Septon invites them to dinner but the men don’t accept the offer. Instead, they ask for all their food and iron. The men leave the place, telling the phrase that only followers of the Lord of the Light use- “The night is dark and full of terror”.
The Hound recognizes the threat and he wanted to fight the men. Instead of fighting them, the Hound leaves in the woods to collect wood for fire. When he goes back to his people he sees a horrifying image-all of the people are slaughtered and the Septon is hanged. Overfilled with madness and anger, he takes an axe and leaves the place.
